SUMMARY

Associate Professor of Immunology and Parasitology, Global Health and Gender Mainstreaming Specialist lecturing at the Faculty of Science, Egerton University - Kenya. I have also served as the first CEO of Kenya’s National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), and two-term Trust Secretary of Egerton’s Retirement Benefits Scheme (RBS). In adittion, I have served as Board Chairperson of several high schools, as well as being the co-founder of Wiser Girls, an all-girls High school based in Migori County that extends full scholarships to 100% of its qualified students to study.

  • 2004- To date, I have taught over 3,000 students in all years as a measure to combat HIV and AIDS. 2002- 2004 - Mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS and Gender Issues into the University Curriculum
  • 2001-2009 - Egerton University Curriculum Developer and Co-ordinator of HIV/AIDS and Outreach and Advocacy programs with the University student league to the community and high schools
  • 2005: Senior Lecturer Department of Zoology, Egerton University.
  • 2005: Developed Masters Programme in Medical Parasitology.
    • Programme now identified as the most popular with few lecturers to supervise students.
    • Sought for scholarship for over five students to undertake masters research in Medical Parasitology and Biochemistry.
    • Teaching both undergraduate and post graduate courses in the department at full load due to lack of enough lecturers. Courses taught include: Biology of HIV and AIDS and Society, Immunology, Protozoology, Helminthology, Helminthology and HIV/AIDS.
    • I have also taught in the department of Biochemistry Biomedical students, teaching Helminthology and Protozoology.
    • I have been internal Examiner for the Department of Biological Sciences.
    • Taught as part/time lecturer at Maseno University, Masters courses including Immunology courses and Biomedical Sciences courses.
