SUMMARY

Prof. Kibet was born to a humble peasant family located some 30 Km South west of Kabarnet town and attended Ochii primary school and Tenges Boys High school in his formative years before joining the then prestigious Kenya Science Teachers' College (KSTC) - Nairobi, and Egerton University for his Barchelor of Education Science (BEd.Sc) dgree in Physics and Chemistry in 2000. He then proceeded for his Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) degree in Analytical Chemistry in Moi University in 2004 while teaching at the Eldoret National polytechnic under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). In 2008, Kibet was awarded a scholarship to study Ph.D. in Chemistry at Louisiana State University (USA). Kibet  joined Egerton University in 2013 as a lecturer of Chemistry. He was appointed Senior lecturer of Chemistry in 2018. Currently, he has graduated several Master of Science students and two (3) PhD students. To date he has more than 80 publications to his name. He is the Associate Dean, Faculty of Science. His research group is presently working on numerical simulations of solar cells, Kinetic and molecular modeling of transport fuels, Modeling of environmental pollutants, Water analysis, infrastructure and supply, and Geochemistry. The group is also exploring research on chemical biodiversity of nectar, honey and pollen from various plants foraged by bees.

Prof. Kibet has collaborated with high ranked researchers across the world: The University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), University of Tclemcen (Algeria), and the Royal Botanical Garden, Kew Gardens, UK. He is a member of various editorial Boards; BMC Chemistry, East African Journal of Science, Technology & Innovation (EAJSTI), and Eurasian Journal of Analytical Chemistry (EJAC). He is an active member of the National Management Environmental Authority (NEMA) and the American Chemical Society (ACS). Kibet has reviewed various manuscripts for springer, Elsevier, ACS and other publishers. Prof. Kibet is a member of the prestigious Regional Research and Development Working Group (RDWG) of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) which is a semi-autonomous institution of the East African Community (EAC) that is mandated to promote and coordinate the development, management and application of science and technology to support regional integration and socioeconomic development. At the community level, Prof. Kibet is currently the Chairman Board of Management (BOM) AIC Kapkelelwa Sec.School, and is working with community self-help groups to better their lives. He attends AIC Mosoriot for his spiritual nourishment.
