One hundred and sixty Agriculture students from the 'ambitious' Karima Girls High School visited Egerton University from 24-26 May 2022 on a learning tour. Five of the teachers accompanying them, including their Deputy Headteacher Josephine Mugwe, were Egerton University Alumni. Among the sites they visited included the piggery section, the fish farm, the rabbit section, the poultry section, the farm machinery section, the Botanical Garden and the Agroscience Park. They also visited the departments of Crops, Horticulture and Soils (CHS); Dairy and Food Science and Technology (DAFTECH); Animal Science; and Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management.
On Wednesday 25th May 2022, the girls were addressed by students and lecturers at the University on the programmes offered and career choices, especially in the Agriculture sector. Among those who addressed them were Prof. Mwanarusi Saidi (Registrar Academic Affairs), Prof. Patience Mshenga (Dean Faculty of Agriculture), Prof. Masani Nduko (Associate Dean Faculty of Agriculture), Prof. Patrick Muliro (DAFTECH), Prof. James Ondieki (Animal Science), Dr. Stephen Githengu (CHS) and Dr. Masaya Chakava (Alumni Relations Coordinator).
