  • Tree Planting Session - 2020

    Egerton University and the family of the late Prof. Samuel Thomas Kabuitu Kariuki famously known as Prof. S.T. alias “a walking plant taxonomy dictionary” today held a tree-planting ceremony at the University’s Botanic Garden. The ceremony hosted by the Division of Research and Extension together with the Department of Biological Sciences was in honour and remembrance of the late Prof. S.T. Kariuki who was the founder and in charge of the Garden since its inception in the year 2002.

  • Investing in Higher Education for Development:

    Crop breeding research at Makerere University Regional Centre for Crop Improvement (MaRCCI), Uganda.

    Through its support to 24 academic research centers of excellence in eight countries, the Eastern & Southern Africa Higher Education Centers of Excellence (ACEII) project succeeded in enrolling over 8,000 students, of whom one-third were female, in Master’s and PhD programs, as well as in short courses. To support capacity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), the project focuses on five regional priority areas: agriculture, applied statistics, education, health and industry.
