Egerton University promoted thirty-one academic staff members following a series of interviews conducted in August 2021.
From a notice released by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor on 30 August 2021, ten academic staff members were promoted from associate professors to professors from interviews conducted on 19 and 20 August. Another notice released the same day indicated that twenty-one academic staff were promoted to associate professors from interviews conducted on 3, 10, 12 and 13 August 2021, respectively.
Those promoted to full professors came from four faculties within the University. From the Faculty of Agriculture are Professors Paul Kimurto, Anthony Kibe, Nancy Mungai, and Josephine Ouma, all from the Department of Crop, Horticulture and Soils. Also from the same Faculty is Professor Patience Mshenga from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management.
From the Faculty of Environment and Resources Development are Professors George Ogendi and Wilkister Moturi from the Department of Environmental Sciences.
From the Faculty of Science are Professors Ali S. Islam and Mwaniki S. Ngari at the Department of Mathematics and Department of Chemistry, respectively.
Professor Charles Inyagwa from the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery was also promoted to full professor.
Those promoted to associate professors are from five faculties. From the Faculty of Agriculture were Professors Robert M. Gesimba, Arnold M. Opiyo, Samuel Nyalala, Mariam Mwangi, Joyce Lelei at the Crop, Horticulture and Soils. Professor Hillary Bett from the Department of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness Management. From the Department of Dairy, Food Science & Technology are Professors Mary Omwamba, Patrick Muliro. From the Department of Animal Sciences are Professors Mary Ambula, Antony King’ori and James Ondiek.
The Faculty of Science are Professor Meshack Obonyo from the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Professors Thomas Kinyanjui and Joshua Kibet from the Department of Chemistry.
From the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences are Professors Hadija Murenga and Eric Bor at the Department of Peace, Security & Social Studies. Professor Aquilars Kalio from the Department of Economics and Professor Phyllis Bartoo from the Department of Literature, Languages & Linguistics.
From the Faculty of Environment and Resources Development is Professor John Mironga from the Department of Geography.
From the Faculty of Commerce are Professors Dinah Kipkebut and Fredrick Kalui from Department of Business Administration, and Department of Accounting, Finance and Management Science.
